Detailed Product Description

Create yacht decking, boat components, and premium woodworking projects with this genuine quarter-sawn teak decking strip. The board measures 1/2 inch thick × 4 inches wide × 48 inches long, providing approximately four linear feet, 1.33 square feet of face coverage, and 0.67 board feet of solid teak.

The broad four-inch profile is particularly useful for deck margins, king planks, borders, hatch surrounds, companionway thresholds, cockpit components, marine furniture, cabinetry, and architectural woodworking. Its substantial half-inch thickness allows material for final sanding, surface preparation, fitting, and future refinishing.

The teak is kiln dried to approximately 10% moisture content to support dimensional consistency during storage, machining, and installation. Quarter-sawn grain orientation produces a straighter and more linear appearance than typical flat-sawn lumber, making it suitable for visible marine and decorative applications.

Freshly machined teak generally displays warm golden-brown tones with natural variation in color and grain. When exposed outdoors without a protective finish, the surface may gradually weather to a silver-gray patina.

The board may be cut, routed, drilled, sanded, shaped, bonded, fastened, sealed, or finished according to the intended application. Because teak naturally contains oils, use surface-preparation methods, adhesives, sealants, primers, and finishes specifically recommended for teak or other oily hardwoods.

Natural wood variation should be expected. Grain direction, color, mineral markings, and texture may differ slightly from one strip to another. Allow additional material for trimming, cutting losses, grain matching, seam spacing, and installation requirements.
