Detailed Product Description
Complete yacht decking, boat restoration, and custom marine woodworking projects with this marine-grade teak decking lumber. Each piece measures 1/2 inch thick, 4 inches wide, and 48 inches long, providing a practical format for deck margins, perimeter boards, cockpit flooring, swim-platform details, thresholds, cabin trim, furniture components, and architectural joinery.
The broad 4-inch profile is especially useful for wider decking sections, covering boards, borders, edges, and custom trim. It may also be resized into narrower battens or strips when a coordinated decking layout requires multiple widths.
Teak is commonly selected for demanding marine environments because its dense grain and naturally occurring oils help it tolerate moisture, humidity, and changing weather conditions. Its warm golden-brown tones and refined grain also make it suitable for visible decorative applications where appearance is important.
Each board provides approximately 1.33 square feet of face coverage and approximately 0.67 board feet of wood volume. Additional material should be allowed for trimming, matching, cutting losses, seam spacing, layout patterns, and future repairs.
The lumber can be cut, routed, drilled, sanded, shaped, bonded, fastened, or finished according to the intended project. Because teak is naturally oily, use adhesives, sealants, primers, and finishes specifically recommended for teak or other oily hardwoods.
Fresh teak generally displays warm golden-brown coloration. When exposed outdoors without a protective finish, the wood may gradually weather toward a silver-gray patina. Natural differences in grain, color, mineral markings, and texture are expected and contribute to the individual character of each piece.
